Paper cylinder. Fighting the time and the wall of rain

That transport left everyone soaking wet. The 145.5-tonne paper cylinder being transported covered the Opole – Klucze route.

“The dimensions of the set are 39.20m x 5.60m x 6.75m with the overall set weight of 240 tonnes”, says Wiesław Bednarz, president of Bedmet Company. “We used an 18-axle Goldhofer trailer and two 4-axle MAN ballast tractors”, he stresses. And exactly due to the significant weight of the entire set the assistance of the other tractor was necessary at individual stages of the route.

The view was quite impressive for many persons who observed the transport. “In practice, we join a trailer with the moving set by a special drawbar. This aid was necessary when we had to deal with elevations”, explains Radosław Siemasz from the Bedmet Logistic sales department. “The heavy rain didn’t make the transport any easier, and it accompanied us practically for the entire night and in the morning”, he adds.

Shutting out tram lines in the centre of a city? Just one of the things we will do to transport oversize loads in a completely safe manner!

The load dimensions were as follows: 28.5m x 4.2m x 4.25m, at the weight of 128 tonnes. By contrast, the transport dimensions were 38m x 4.2m x 5.15m at the total weight of 190 tonnes. “The drive through the centre of Poznań was an interesting stage that required special attention, too. To make it possible to allow the load to reach the target place safely, it was necessary to temporarily shut out a dozen or so tram lines”, stresses Damian Bednarz, president of Bedmet Logistic”.

Firstly, the 128-tonne load crossed the stage from Antwerp to Poznań by water transport. “It was one of the heaviest loads that reached Poznań by the Warta River route”, highlights Radosław Siemasz from Budmet Logistic Company. “For land transport, we used a 4-axle MAN trailer and a 14-axle modular trailer by Goldhofer”, he adds.

Thanks to the involvement of the entire team of BEDMET, the conditioner for the food sector reached the customer safely.

Portaging an exclusive yacht to Italy. But where to park it?

Bedmet Logistic undertook to portage an exclusive yacht from Ropczyce to a shipyard in Italy.

The set weighs 50 tonnes and its dimensions are as follows: 40m x 7m x 4.5m. “The preparations for this portaging lasted for many months. Only after we had prepared a detailed plan of transit and obtained necessary permits did the customer decided that the transport of the yacht without the necessity to separate it into smaller elements would be possible”, says Radosław Siemasz from the Bedmet Logistic sales department.

The Oversized. TVP Opole documentary series about to be aired

The topic of oversize transport could be discussed endlessly. There are as much as 7 types of such transport, depending on weight and dimensions. And there are just a few companies that realise similar undertakings. The preparation for realising such transit sometimes takes a year. TVP3 Opole has prepared a documentary series revealing the secrets of oversize transport.

It is the first project of this type prepared by the public broadcaster’s facility in Opole. “This documentary series constitutes proof that smaller regional TVP facilities have a great potential hidden in them. I am sure that the production of The Oversized (Polish: Ponadnormatywni) will be not only a perfect documentary material but also a promotion of our voivodeship. Just a few know that the Opolskie region is famous for experienced and vibrantly operating companies on the market of oversize transport. Not only in the country but also in Europe”, says Mateusz Magdziarz, director and editor-in-chief of TVP3 Opole.

The team preparing the series started working with that message. “It is a new yet very interesting challenge for Honorata Szmuc and me. Quite a lot of preparation and ‘sitting’ over the rules of road traffic. We were successful thanks to the cooperation with Bedmet Company, with which we prepare the series. The knowledge I together with Honorata gained during the shooting of the first episode will bear fruit in the future. I’m certain that now, when I drive my car, I pay greater attention to the events happening around me”, adds Adam Wołek, author of the scenario and who provides a voice-over for the series.

In the first episode of The Oversized, TVP3 Opole will show the portage of a 15-tonne yacht from Ropczyce to the Mediterranean Sea. Perhaps the weight isn’t that impressive, but we assure you that the dimensions of the load indeed are. “We want to show how such instances of transport are carried out. It’s a very arduous process for us, and it’s why we are always greatly satisfied in the end. We have undertaken to do the impossible many times, and we carried out a drive that nobody else in Europe wanted to carry out”, says Wiesław Bednarz, president of Bedmet Company.
